If compared to other popular cigar brands that have been there for over a hundred years, Guantanamera cigars can be considered quite «young». There are two companies that produce this brand, both currently litigating the rights to register the patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The Miami-based Guantanamera Cigars Company that was established in 1997 and Cuba-based Habanos SA that has been manufacturing Guantanamera cigars from 2002 are different in the way they make their cigars. The Cuban version features machine-made cigars and uses tobacco from the Vuelta Arriba region of the country. The US version is a premium hand-rolled cigar with long filler. There are four most popular kinds of Guantanamera cigars - Compay, Cristales, Decimos, and Puritos, all of which are said to provide good draw and pleasant typical Cuban taste. At the same time, Guantanamera cigars are not overpriced and may in fact cost three-four times less that a cigar manufactured by any other company. This is why people that take up smoking cigars are very likely to start with this brand - the combination of high quality and low price seems to be just what many people are looking for.
